May. 16th, 2012 02:02 pmAdmittance had been a simple enough task; the Count had simply to walk through the front doors of the over-large building in which the firm of Walters, Graham, & Associates had chosen to do business. Entry into Miss Walter's personal office had been more difficult; he had no appointment and the lady in question was out catching a late lunch. The woman he'd spoken to had offered to call her, but the Count had insisted she not waste her time, as firmly as politeness allowed. It was no emergency, and of course he should have thought to call ahead, make an appointment. Miss Walters is an extremely busy woman, and he has been so rude as to think she would simply have time for him now.
He took a business card, waving away offers to have her call him. He wouldn't dream of putting her out in such a way; in fact, he would prefer she not mention his visit. It would embarrass him to have his rudeness so revealed, though of course he would deserve it.
Ten minutes later, a small rodent scurried into Jennifer's office, rushing to avoid catching its odd little tail in the closing door. It dives under one of the chairs set for the comfort of guests, drawing no attention in its mad dash despite the lemon-yellow tone of its fur, or the horns and bat-like wings that clearly marked it as a quite unusual little mammal. It waited for the worker (a junior partner, he thought, though didn't care enough to verify) to leave before he scurried back to an open area of the floor.
On stopping, it rears up to sit on its back haunches and just like that is no more. Where the creature was the Count now stands, pushing the hood of his cloak back so to better straighten the hair that had been disarrayed. He glances at the door, then around the room to judge from where Miss Walters would be best likely to see him when she walks in. He has no wish to frighten her, of course.
Choice made, the Count drifts over to a book-case and begins perusing titles, though of course not being so rude as to take one off the shelf.
